Partnership with University of Cincinnati Provides Postdoctoral Interns Hands-On Experience at Camargo
(Cincinnati, OH, July 21, 2015) — Camargo Pharmaceutical Services, the leading global drug development strategist specializing in the 505(b)(2) approval pathway, has expanded its internship program through a partnership with the University of Cincinnati (UC).
The UC program recently launched with two postdoctoral research interns joining the Camargo team at its Cincinnati location. Interns have the opportunity to gain experience as they assist research scientists throughout various stages of drug development, including feasibility assessments; design and conduct of nonclinical and Phase I-IV clinical trials; and regulatory preparation and filing of investigational new drug applications and new drug applications.
“This internship helps students improve their understanding and skills in critical areas of the development process,” said Mary Beth Genter, UC professor of environmental health. “It’s also a great chance for students who have outstanding knowledge in various areas of the biomedical sciences to put that knowledge to work immediately.”
As part of the partnership with UC, Dr. Ruth Stevens, Camargo chief scientific officer and executive vice president, presented and participated in a panel discussion at the meeting of the National Directors of Graduate Studies in Pharmacology and Physiology July 10–12.
“We’ve been impressed with the interns’ skill and knowledge,” said Stevens. “They have quickly become assets to our team, and this program has proven to be a key pipeline for hiring full-time research scientists.”
In addition to the expansion of its internship program, which includes a program at Camargo’s Durham, N.C., location in conjunction with Duke University, the company has experienced extensive growth adding seven new professionals to the team year to date.
