SCORR Marketing and ACT Release Clinical Research Salary Report

SCORR Marketing, a global health science communications firm, has released a life sciences industry salary and employee satisfaction survey report. Produced with Applied Clinical Trials, this free information is unavailable elsewhere. It will help drug development and clinical research employers improve retention in an industry with significant employee turnover and help employees negotiate contracts.
The late-2019 survey details salary and other compensation as well as job satisfaction levels and trends in drug development and clinical research. Respondents range from executives to research associates working for sponsors, clinical research organizations (CROs), and other service providers, academic institutions, and research sites.
“Many of this year’s survey respondents cited things like career development and on-the-job challenges as being equal to or more influential than financial compensation for overall job satisfaction,” said Krystle Buntemeyer, president at SCORR. “This is actionable information for employers competing to land and retain the best pharmaceutical and biotech employees.”
“Learning what others are being paid — that’s always of interest,” said Roger Boutin, VP communications at SCORR. “This report tells you not only how much your peers are making, but also what percentage of them receive supplemental income or non-cash compensation.”
Other questions answered in the survey include how much of a raise participants received this past year and how satisfied they were with the level of training or continuing education they could access. As most respondents were somewhat dissatisfied with their companies’ career development offerings, enhancements in this area could help keep employees happy. Mentorship, in particular, had room for improvement.
